Weeding Out Those Pesky Twitter Auto Bots

by Daniel on November 27, 2009

Thought I would share a few thoughts on weeding out those pesky Twitter auto bot accounts that make it so hard to read your stream in TweetDeck.

The way I went around it at first was to go into my account and manually look at the accounts and see which ones were on auto and unrelated to my area of expertise. This took far too long…

I specifically wanted to rid myself of “weight loss” accounts, being as skinny as a wippet I didnt really need that info.

tweetdeck-filter-boxThe easier way I found was to go into TweetDeck and filter the “All Friends” column, you do that by adding the words “weight” in the filter box, once you do this you can then easily “Unfollow” the Twitterfeed and other auto bot accts.

After a few days of weeding you should then have a nice clear playing field in Twitter that only supplies you with information you actually want.

Just do this with each and every keyword you can think of i.e. “Acai”, “Make Money” etc and you should then be sitting pretty with all the relevant info you could ever require.

“Insurance” is another good one to try, loads on auto for that…
